  • Boeing Begins Assembly of 1,000th 767.
    EVERETT, Wash. (PRNewswire-FirstCall): Boeing (NYSE: BA) has begun assembly of the 1,000th 767 airplane at the factory in Everett, Wash. Mechanics took the first step in major assembly by loading the wing spar into the assembly tool. The spar is the internal support structure that runs through the full length of the wing.

    President Barack Obama announced Sept. 6 that his administration will press for a major investment in the nation?s transportation infrastructure, including at airports and in the Next Generation air transportation system (NextGen). The president made the announcement during a Labor Day speech in Milwaukee, Wis.

    KIELCE, Poland - The S-70i? BLACK HAWK helicopter, the international variant of the BLACK HAWK helicopter, is on public display for the first time. Built at PZL Mielec, Sikorsky Aircraft?s company in Poland, the aircraft will be on static display at the MSPO exhibition through Sept. 9. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:(UTX)).




  • 200 Chinese Pilots Gave Fake Credentials.
    Over 200 pilots in China submitted fake records of their flying histories, and they were employed by airlines desperate for staff, the country's civil aviation authority has said. Investigations conducted by officials showed that in 2008-2009, Shenzhen Airlines had 103 pilots with faked work histories on the payroll, China Daily reported Tuesday citing China Business News.

(AFNS): The Air Force's ongoing alternative fuels certification efforts reached a new milestone Aug. 27 when a C-17 Globemaster III from here flew on all engines using jet fuel blended with a combination of traditional petroleum-based fuel, or JP-8, biofuel derived in part from animal fat, and synthetic fuel derived from coal.
